Call for Contributors: Horizon 2020 project on "Sustainable solutions for bio-based plastics on land and sea"

Created in March 2018, the Baltic Research and Publications Office (BUPRaP) https://www.haw-hamburg.de/en/ftz-nk/programmes/buprap.html is a research and publications infra-structure, whose aim is to support the Baltic University Programme (BUP) members to foster their research activities and enhance their publications output and profile. The project will focus on sustainability strategies and solutions for bio-based products, including:

a) tests on innovative product design to decouple plastics production from fossil feedstock
b) analyse and address the technical and economic barriers to bio-based plastics recycling as regards established and/or alternative recycling options
c) analyse and address the risks, impact and solutions to cross-contamination with conventional plastics waste streams or other contaminants
d) perform pre-normative research including field tests on land and at sea, to check how the approaches may support the biodegradable sustainability framework
e) mapping and focusing on the applications where biodegradable and compostable solutions could support public policies
f) measures to ensure the safety of recycled materials when used for toys or packaging food stuffs
g) development of business models facilitating efficient reuse and recycling strategies and solutions

Each of the elements above will be addressed by very focused and very clearly written work packages, with solid research methods and very concrete outputs. The project will be written over a period of 5th months (1st September 2018 to 10th Jan 2019) and will be submitted by 18th January 2019, i.e one week or so before the deadline.

At this point in time, we are looking for suitable organisations which have a proven expertise on items "a" to "g", which may join the project and provide a contributions to one of the items listed. If your organisation has a proven expertise in one of the above areas, we would be happy to hear from you. Please do NOT contact us, if you do not have the expertise needed.
