Encyclopedia of the UN Sustainable Development Goals": vol 13 (Climate Action)
2019-11-26
The International Climate Change Information and Research Programme (ICCIRP) and the Baltic Research and Publications Office (BUPrAP) are pleased to announce the launching of Volume 13 (Climate Action) of the "Encyclopedia of the UN Sustainable Development Goals".
As you are aware, the United Nations General Assembly approved in 2015 the "UN 2030 Agenda". As part of it, a set of 17 Sustainable Development Goals have been set, to fight poverty, erradicate hunger, promote peace, fight climate change, etc. The full list of SDGs can be seen here.
In response to this UN effort, Professor Walter Leal, Chair of Environment and Technology at Manchester Metropolitan University (UK) and Chair of Climate Change Management at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (Germany), is leading the preparation of the "Encyclopedia of the UN Sustainable Development Goals", in cooperation with Springer. The Encyclopedia entails 17 volumes, each volume with about 100 chapters, or 1.700 chapters in total.
Over 3.000 scientists from round the world are contributing to this project, the world´s largest editorial project on sustainable development ever performed. The volume on SDG 13 (Climate Action) will be presented during the UN Climate Change Conference (COP 25) to be held in Madrid, Spain on 2–13 December 2019. The Encyclopedia will be completed by 2021, for further details see the web pages of the whole Encyclopedia and volume 13 "Climate Action".
Colleagues interested to contribute to other volumes of the Encyclopedia should contact the ICCIRP team for details on how to join this unique effort.
