BUP is hiring students for digitalization project
We are now looking for students and PhD students at BUP participating Universities that would like to work extra on the side of their studies, digitalizing lectures and developing interactive online courses.
Background: In 2020, the Baltic University Programme decided to start digitalizing courses related to the Baltic Sea Region and Sustainability. The BUP aims to digitalize courses, creating so-called Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC’s). Together with researchers and university teachers around the region, we are currently creating curricula’s and course content to be implemented as MOOC courses in 2021. We are now looking for students and PhD students at BUP participating Universities that would like to work extra on the side of their studies, digitalizing lectures and developing interactive online courses.
Work description: The work as an e-tutor involves assisting researchers and university teachers at the Baltic University Programme’s participating universities concerning the digitalization of course materials for the project Baltic Sea Region Climate Change Curriculum and the BUP module pool. This includes; together with the researchers develop presentations, film lectures, suggest online exercises and other materials such as quizzes and discussion points. The student will also be responsible for the editing of the produced materials and the transfer of the materials to the Baltic University Programme’s coordinating secretariat. The selected candidates will go through a 5-day online training, provided by the BUP. Participation in the training is compulsory. The hired student will receive training in technical, didactic and copyright basics and gains practical experience in the field of digital teaching, acquires media skills and represents an important link between teachers and students.
Requirement: The applicant needs to be a student or PhD student at a BUP participating university, with the intention of maintaining the status as a student/PhD Student for the full year of 2021. The student must have good English skills and a basic understanding of environmental or sustainability issues. It is also required to be present during the 5-day training session.
Additional qualifications: It will be considered positive (not required) if the applicant has a basic understanding of how to film and edit movies and pictures.
Time and salary: After completing the training session, the student will be hired for approximately 60 hours of work, during the spring semester of 2021. The exact working hours and the salary will be set individually and paid by the Baltic University Programme. The candidate is expected to work between late February and June 2021, with the possibility of prolongation in the autumn.

This year BUP has an opportunity to give support to colleagues at BUP participating universities that are ready to host and organize a BUP academic event/activity that is of interest and relevance to sustainability and a Baltic Sea Region perspective, and that encourage interdisciplinary co-operations.
